Study: 70% of Moroccans Eager to Travel Post-Lockdown, Boosting Tourism Hopes

According to a recent study conducted by the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), 70% of Moroccans want to travel after the confinement period. This could give a breath of fresh air to the tourism sector, which has been hit hard by the health crisis related to covid-19.
In total, 70% of respondents expressed their desire to travel at the end of the confinement. 60.6% of them want to travel one month after deconfinement, indicates the study carried out by the ONMT on the perception and behavior of the Moroccan consumer during and after confinement. Three-quarters of the people surveyed plan a post-confinement trip of two weeks. 52% of respondents plan to travel with their family (4 people on average, i.e. a couple with 2 children).
"Those who plan to travel in small families are the 35 to 55 year olds, as well as the inhabitants of the Souss-Massa region and the South. Among the socio-professional categories (CSP), the 18-24 year olds and the over 55s are more numerous to want to travel as a couple, while the 25 to 34 year olds prefer to travel alone," says the ONMT, adding that the average budget is 5900 DH.
The study also specifies that Moroccans want to visit their families (36.5%), go to the beach (29.1%) and be in contact with nature (26.6%). They want to stay in non-tourist establishments (81.2% of cases) and in tourist establishments mainly 3, 4 and 5 star hotels.
