Study: 90% of Moroccan Children Use Smartphones Daily, Raising Parental Concerns

Almost all Moroccan children use a smartphone daily. An addiction that increasingly worries parents, overwhelmed by the evolution of digital technology.
According to a survey conducted by Kaspersky and the Immersion firm, nearly 9 out of 10 Moroccan children use a smartphone every day and 68% of them have their own device, while 46% of parents would not know how to react if their child was a victim of cyberbullying.
According to the study results, screens are too present in children’s lives and are a source of conflict with the family. Thus, one parent in 3 believes that their child is less sociable since they have a smartphone. 9 out of 10 indicate that they have already been in conflict with their child because of a digital-related issue. They are also 9 out of 10 to feel completely overwhelmed by their children in everything related to digital technology.
Regarding parental control to accompany their children towards safer use of the Internet, the study revealed that only 3% of Moroccan parents think that their child has been confronted with cyberbullying online, while 10% have already been summoned to school because their child would have participated in the humiliation of another on social networks.
Furthermore, the survey showed that 83% of Moroccan parents believe that their children are too often confronted with violent content on the Internet, while 82% think that digital entertainment "takes up too much space in children’s lives".
Finally, 39% of Moroccan parents disapprove of their children’s use of TikTok, while knowing that they are registered there.
