Strong Winds Force Extended Closure of Tarifa Port, Travelers Rerouted

The port authorities of the city of Tarifa are maintaining the closure of the port today due to the bad weather in the Strait of Gibraltar.
In a message posted this morning on Twitter, the officials indicate that the port will remain closed this Friday, May 31, due to weather conditions and it is very likely that it will remain so until Monday. The strong winds that the entire strait is experiencing are the cause of this closure.
The Moroccans residing abroad (MREs) who wish to take the boat in Tarifa are therefore asked to go to Algeciras for a connection with Tanger-Med or Ceuta, the two ports not being affected by these closures.
If the port of Tarifa is often closed, it is because it has almost exclusively fast ferries that are very unstable in gusts of wind. This port is connected to the port of Tangier-ville, and travelers who had planned to go there must therefore resign themselves to choosing Tanger-Med.
