Strong winds disrupt container stacks at Tanger Med without blocking the port

The information appears in the port disruption report published by Kuehne+Nagel for the period from September 9 to 15. The logistics group reviews waiting times and the main incidents affecting international ports.

At Tanger Med, recent winds caused disruption to container stacks in the terminal. Cleanup and reorganization operations were still under way when the bulletin was prepared. Kuehne+Nagel nevertheless reported neither injuries nor any interruption to activities.

The port’s operations are described as “largely stable.” The average waiting time for vessels over the past seven days was around one day, a level significantly lower than that observed at several major Asian ports also monitored by the group.

Tanger Med remains below the disruption threshold

Kuehne+Nagel generally considers a port to be slightly disrupted when the average wait exceeds two days. The status becomes “heavily disrupted” beyond four days. With a waiting time of around one day, Tanger Med therefore remains in the category corresponding to normal operations despite the incident in the container yard.

The bulletin separately reports the expected delay of a maritime service bound for Tanger Med. This is not related to the winds in Morocco, but to the consequences of the recent strikes at the German port of Hamburg.
