Stranded Passengers Await Rescue Ship from Morocco After Ferry Breakdown off Spanish Coast

The ship "Ciudad de Valencia" of the shipping company Trasmediterránea, which covers the regular line between Cadiz and the Canary Islands, broke down again this week. Passengers had to wait for another ship from Morocco to board.
After the breakdown recorded last week, which forced passengers to board the "Volcán de Tinamar" ship in the port of Huelva, the "Ciudad de Valencia" ship experienced a new breakdown this week. Departing 48 hours late due to a part that had to be replaced and which was to arrive from Italy, the ship had to turn back at dawn to return to the Cadiz quay due to an engine failure, according to Diario de Cadiz.
One of the passengers on the ship says they were waiting for the arrival of a new ship from Morocco to board again for the Canary Islands on Friday from 7pm, barring any changes. "On Monday evening we received an SMS announcing that the departure was postponed until Wednesday," explains David Pintado, one of the passengers on the ’Ciudad de Valencia’ ship from Ibiza. On Wednesday, they were told that the trip was postponed until the next day. The breakdown was repaired and they boarded for the Canary Islands.
The trip was going normally until problems reappeared at the engine level, forcing the ship’s captain to turn back towards Cadiz. The situation caused panic on board, as tempers were high. "They asked us to get off the ship, but 95% of the passengers didn’t want to move their vehicles or get off the ship until the problem was resolved," details David.
The traveler warns that the company will compensate them. "We will file a joint complaint so that Trasmediterránea reimburses all expenses, as many people had to take a hotel or eat at a restaurant the first night," he added.
