Stranded Moroccans in Turkey Refuse Repatriation Flights, Citing Concerns

While Morocco has scheduled special flights for its nationals stranded in Turkey due to border closures, some have expressed their refusal to be repatriated.
Covering accommodation, opposition to fingerprinting... These are among the reasons underlying the refusal of some Moroccans stranded in Turkey to return to the country. First, they demanded that the Moroccan Consulate General in Turkey cover their accommodation, Assabah reported.
In response, the consulate explains that it has already covered the accommodation and food of 2,800 compatriots, and organized 21 humanitarian flights for Moroccans stranded in Turkey. It assures that it is not able to cover the accommodation of people who have chosen to remain in Turkey for personal reasons.
Among them, there are Moroccans who do not hold identity documents and do not meet the requirements to be repatriated. To solve this problem, the officials of the Moroccan Consulate General in Turkey decided to take their fingerprints. But they were met with a categorical refusal.
