Storm Halts Ferry Services Between Spain and Morocco, Disrupting Travel

The storm currently hitting a large part of southern Spain, including the Algeciras and Tarifa regions, has prompted the authorities to suspend links with Morocco.
Thus, in Tarifa the port had to suspend all ferry departures to Tangier City. Similarly, in Algeciras, the southern access to the port was closed for safety reasons.
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has alerted the region with orange and yellow warnings, due to strong winds and high waves. Between midnight and 9 a.m., southwest winds blowing between 62 and 74 km/h and waves of four to five meters were expected, which could exceptionally reach five to six meters near Cadiz.
The rainfall was also significant, with forecasts of up to 60 liters per square meter in 12 hours, leading to the activation of yellow alerts throughout the province of Cadiz and the coast and the Strait. The storm also impacted land and maritime traffic, leading to the cancellation of some ferry departures between Algeciras and Tanger Med, as well as in Ceuta.
