Storm Disrupts Ferry Service Between Spain and Morocco at Tarifa Port

A strong storm again disrupted maritime traffic between Spain and Morocco on Friday, December 27. The port of Tarifa, an important crossing point for Moroccans residing abroad, was therefore forced to suspend its connections with Tangier City.
The Spanish Meteorological Agency (Aemet) issued a yellow alert for the Strait of Gibraltar and the coast. Wind gusts of up to 80 km/h were expected, making navigation dangerous. The heavy swell also further complicated the situation.
The ferries therefore remained docked, and passengers had the choice of waiting for the situation to improve or heading to the port of Algeciras to take a boat to Tanger Med or Ceuta. Aemet forecasts that the storm will lose intensity on Saturday morning, but the winds could persist until the end of the year, or even the beginning of 2025.
