Stellantis Shifts Electric Peugeot 208 Production from Morocco to Spain

The Stellantis group has decided to change the production plant for the electric version of its Peugeot produced in Slovakia and Morocco. The 100% electric Peugeot 208 will be produced in the Figueruelas plant from 2023.
As of 2023, the electric version of the Peugeot 208 will be produced in the Stellantis plant in Figueruelas, Spain, as part of the restyling of the French model, reports La Tribuna de Automoción. As for the thermal versions, they will be 100% manufactured in Kenitra, Morocco, which produced around 60,000 units last year, according to data from the Inovev firm. The Slovak plant produced 160,000 of them the same year.
In 2021, the Peugeot 208 is the second best-selling car in Europe in 2021 after the Volkswagen Golf. This change in production site is part of the restyling of the 208, expected for 2023. Stellantis, the group resulting from the merger between PSA and FCA, is considering this.
