Spectacular Fireball Streaks Across Moroccan and Spanish Skies, Captured by Observatories

A fireball was spotted in the Moroccan sky on Thursday, at the same time as another crossed the provinces of Jaén, Granada and Almería, according to data provided by the Calar Alto Astronomical Observatory in the province of Almería.
The passage of the two fireballs was reported by the detectors of the SMART project installed at the astronomical center in Almeria and Ayora (Valencia), Huelva, La Hita (Toledo), Sierra Nevada (Granada), La Sagra (Granada), Seville and El Aljarafe (Seville), reports La Voz de Almeria.
According to Professor José María Madiedo, from the Institute of Astrophysics of Andalusia (IAA-CSIC) and principal researcher of the SMART project, the fireball that crossed the Moroccan sky, a comet, was observed at 3:56 UTC on March 2, traveling at an initial speed of 238,000 km/h and at an initial altitude of 120 km. The second fireball, an asteroid, was observed at 9:39 pm UTC, traveling at a speed of 97,000 km/h and at an initial altitude of 101 km.
