Spanish Woman, Pregnant and Stranded in Morocco Due to Border Closure

Miriam El Majjaoui Val, a 25-year-old Spanish woman, has been in Morocco since February 8 to visit her husband, and has been stranded there due to the closure of borders. She later discovered that she was pregnant.
Residing in Barcelona, she had come to visit her husband who lives in Tangier. That’s when she surprised herself to be pregnant. The couple, legally married a year and four months ago, has therefore embarked on a long process to obtain the family record book, reports El Faro de Ceuta.
"I came to visit him and also see how our file was going; and five days before my departure, on March 19, the borders were closed," says Miriam, who now lives in Tetouan, at her parents’ house.
She then realizes that she was pregnant. "When I came, I wasn’t. I was a week late, I took the pregnancy test and it was positive. I had the tests done and everything is fine," she says.
For now, her return to Spain remains a puzzle. "I don’t have the means to return by plane, but I have registered on the ships. But so far, nothing... I called and emailed the consulate and the embassy. Still nothing," laments Miriam, who is worried about her health and her mother: "I’m two and a half months pregnant and I have to see a doctor in Spain, because here in Morocco, healthcare is very expensive. And also, my mother is sick with a heart condition and alone in Barcelona."
