Spanish Troops Deploy to Ceuta Border Without Ammunition, Sparking Controversy

A few months ago, the Spanish government sent soldiers without ammunition and equipment to Ceuta, near the border with Morocco, to carry out a surveillance and deterrence mission. An act that is causing a stir within the Spanish army.
In the images of this mission shared on social media by the Defense Staff, we see three soldiers from the Ceuta Tactical Group, armed with their weapons, patrolling the autonomous city. According to experts who analyzed these photos, the weapons held by the agents did not have ammunition and they did not carry any on their belts either. The images also show a military vehicle, an old Anibal Santana that has shown its limits, according to the experts.
These photos have sparked the anger of the Spanish armed forces, who believe that a military surveillance and deterrence mission near Morocco cannot be carried out without ammunition, knowing that the kingdom maintains its claims on Ceuta and Melilla and on the Spanish islands and rocks. This mission was initiated on "political orders", without taking into account the "operational measures", they denounce, arguing that the units "should never have left their base under these conditions".
The Ceuta Tactical Group has intensified its surveillance missions on the outskirts of the autonomous city in recent months, in the forest area near the border with Morocco. This permanent presence of Spanish agents aims to reaffirm Spanish sovereignty over this territory, says Ok Diario, recalling that military units are also carrying out similar missions in Melilla and in other territories claimed by Morocco.
