Spanish Tax Authorities Probe Hércules Club Over Abde Ezzalzouli Transfer Funds

The Alicante prosecutor’s office has filed a complaint against the directors of the Hércules club and its Foundation for not having declared the amount received for the transfer of Moroccan winger Abde Ezzalzouli to FC Barcelona last summer, thus avoiding paying part of their tax debt which amounts to around four million euros.
The action is mainly directed against the club’s president, Carlos Parodi, and its secretary, José María Caruana, as well as Valentín Botella and José León, as members of the board of directors of Hércules and its foundation. They are accused of a presumed crime of concealment of assets, reports Cadena Ser.

The facts date back to August and September 2021, when FC Barcelona made a staggered payment of two million euros to the club for the transfer of Moroccan player Abde Ezzalzouli, divided into 34 checks, 33 of which were for 60,000 euros and the last for 15,770 euros.
To cash in this sum, the club opened another account on which the amounts of the checks were deposited and used to pay the club’s operating expenses, thus preventing the Treasury from receiving the money to repay part of the club’s tax debt.
