Spanish Shipbuilder Navantia Begins Keel Construction for Moroccan Navy Patrol Vessel

The construction by Navantia of the patrol vessel for the benefit of the Royal Moroccan Navy is progressing. The Spanish shipbuilder carried out the keel laying on its San Fernando site on the high-altitude vessel.
With his team, Antonio García Molina, Navantia’s program director, carried out the keel laying on the Moroccan patrol vessel, in the presence of the colonel-major of the Moroccan navy, Mohammed Sallouh, and the president of Navantia, Ricardo Domínguez, and other officials, relays Info Defensa.
This event marks the beginning of the construction of the ship’s keel, which is starting to take shape. The manufacture of the other blocks of the patrol vessel continues in the various workshops of the Navantia San Fernando site. The ship will be 87 meters long and 13 meters wide. It will be able to carry a crew of 60 people.
Its construction should last three years. Last January, Rear Admiral Mohamed Tahin, Inspector of the Royal Navy, had visited Navantia San Fernando to observe the progress of the construction work on the patrol vessel, launched in July 2023.
The contract between Navantia and the Moroccan authorities provides for technical and logistical assistance (spare parts, tools and technical documentation), as well as technical training services for the personnel of the Royal Moroccan Navy.
