Spanish PM Sanchez to Visit Morocco, Signaling New Era in Bilateral Relations

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, will make an official visit to Morocco next week. It will mark the beginning of "a new stage in relations" between the two countries, after Spain’s change on the Sahara.
Announced for May, Sanchez’s trip to Rabat will finally take place next week, government sources told The Objective, without specifying the exact date of this official visit. At La Moncloa, this trip by Sanchez to Morocco is the "top priority" because it will allow the start of a "new stage" in relations between the two countries.
Pedro Sanchez had planned to go to Morocco at the end of the week, or this weekend, after receiving Thursday the invitation from King Mohammed VI "to make a visit to Morocco in the very near future." According to foreign sources, the confusion arose from the translation of the original message in French by some Spanish media, who confused "very near future" with "three next days." This led La Moncloa to choose Sunday as the date for this visit to Morocco.
For this state visit, Sanchez will be accompanied by his Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, who canceled his scheduled visit to Rabat the next day, after the telephone exchange between Sanchez and Mohammed VI announced by the Spanish president on his official Twitter account.
