A Spanish priest calls for bombing Rabat and reconquering Morocco

The migration crisis in Ceuta has prompted extremely violent remarks in Spain. A priest from Navarre is calling for migrants to be fired upon, Rabat to be bombed and Morocco to be «reconquered».

Javier Aizpún, parish priest of Huarte, near Pamplona, and a canon of the city’s cathedral, published several messages on the social network X calling for military force to be used against Morocco and the migrants who entered Ceuta.

The clergyman claims, without providing any evidence, that the migrants were allegedly released from Moroccan prisons by King Mohammed VI. He predicts an «unimaginable» level of crime and calls for «massive fire against the invaders of Ceuta» as well as the bombing of Rabat, reports Cadena SER.

A «reconquest» of Morocco

The priest does not stop at defending Ceuta’s border. Invoking Our Lady of Africa, patron saint of the city, he wants her to promote the «reconquest of Morocco» and its conversion to Christianity.

Javier Aizpún also refers to Isabella the Catholic, arguing that Spain should finish what the queen allegedly left unfinished. In particular, he claims northern Morocco, which he presents as land belonging to an «eternal Spain» inherited from the Roman era.

These calls to shoot at migrants, bomb the Moroccan capital and reconquer Morocco have sparked a heated controversy in Spain, especially since Javier Aizpún holds responsibilities within the Catholic Church of Navarre.
