Spanish Port of Algeciras Prepares for Return of Moroccan Diaspora Transit Operation

The president of the Port Authority of the Bay of Algeciras (APBA), Gerardo Landaluce, expressed his satisfaction on Thursday with the announced resumption of passenger maritime traffic with Morocco and the upcoming organization of Operation Marhaba (Moroccans living abroad).
"It’s long-awaited news," Landaluce said at a press conference, hoping that the upcoming visit of Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares to Rabat on April 1 will provide more details on the exact dates of the resumption of maritime links and the holding of Operation Marhaba 2022.
"The port of Algeciras and the Port Authority are ready for this year’s Operation Marhaba and the resumption of maritime traffic with Morocco," Landaluce stressed, before addressing his "words of encouragement to the entire port community" which has been suffering from this very difficult situation for two years. "The link between Tarifa and Tangier has been closed and the port of Tarifa has been without commercial activity for two years," he recalled.
