Spanish Police Seize 4.4 Tons of Moroccan Cannabis, Arrest Two Britons in Maritime Bust

Two Britons were arrested in Spain with a cargo of 4.4 tons of Moroccan cannabis destined for Latin America.
Based on information provided by the British police, the Spanish police in coordination with the Spanish customs service managed to seize 4.4 tons of hashish that were allegedly destined for Latin America on board a boat that was sailing off the southern coast of the country and also arrested two Britons on board, reports the EFE agency. "The investigation had established that the boat was going to be used to collect a large quantity of hashish in Morocco, which was then to be transported to Latin America," the police said in a statement.
The bad weather in the Strait of Gibraltar forced the boat to head towards Spain after picking up its cargo on the west coast of Morocco. A Spanish customs patrol took advantage of this to approach the vessel and, after boarding it, discovered "many jute and raffia bags, often used to transport this type of drug," the same source specifies. In total, 130 packages containing some 4,400 kilos of hashish were seized by the customs officers. The operation resulted in the arrest of two Britons.
