Spanish Police Seize 3 Tons of Hashish in Major Drug Bust at Algeciras Port

Three individuals were arrested following the discovery of more than three tons of hashish at the port of Algeciras, in southern Spain. These drugs were hidden in trailers arriving from Tangier. The suspects now face charges related to public health offenses.
The intervention took place at the port of Algeciras, a key control point for the units responsible for risk analysis and vehicle identification. Agents spotted the drugs hidden in specially designed double floors in four trailers. The first seizure involved more than 350 kilos of hashish found in a double floor of a trailer. Subsequently, a thorough inspection of a ship revealed large quantities of drugs in three other trailers.
The efforts to conceal the drugs were remarkably sophisticated, requiring meticulous and prolonged inspections, the Guardia Civil said in a statement. The hashish was carefully hidden in the structures of the trailers, including the walls, floors and doors. This level of concealment made detection particularly difficult. In the end, the agents extracted and seized a total of 3,340 kilos of hashish, as well as the vehicles involved in this traffic, namely four trailers.
