Spanish Police Officer Expelled for Spreading Anti-Moroccan Hate Speech Online

The Guardia Civil has expelled one of its agents for disseminating xenophobic ’fake news’ on social networks targeting Moroccans. This is the first conviction of its kind in Spain.
The agent was sentenced to 15 months in prison for incitement to hatred, along with a fine and the obligation to participate in an awareness program. The harshest sanction was applied, with his permanent expulsion from the Guardia Civil.
The agent’s publications on social networks are considered a very serious offense, inciting rejection and discrimination towards migrants, particularly Moroccans. The shared content was xenophobic and racist in nature, spreading false information with the sole purpose of inciting hatred.
The agent had also shared a video claiming a recent sexual assault by Moroccan minors, when in fact it was a video from China.
