Spanish Police Launch Massive Anti-Hashish Operation in Algeciras

Drug traffickers have stepped up operations in recent weeks between Morocco and Spain. In an attempt to put an end to this, or at least mark the police presence, a large-scale operation was carried out this Wednesday in Algeciras, mobilizing some 250 agents.
For some time now, traffickers of Moroccan hashish have been smuggling their goods almost daily through the beaches of Algeciras. To fight this growing traffic, a major device was set up this Wednesday by the national police and the tax administration.
The objective of this vast anti-drug operation is to completely dismantle the organizations that introduce Moroccan hashish into Spain via the beaches of Algeciras. This action, coordinated by the Algeciras investigating court, is part of the special security plan for Gibraltar of the Secretary of State for Security.
On April 7, the National Police and the Civil Guard dismantled a major Moroccan hashish network allegedly led by Nimo, the lieutenant of the famous "Messi". In total, 21 people were arrested after 16 searches in Algeciras and Los Barrios. The operation also made it possible to recover four stolen vehicles, 40,000 packs of contraband tobacco, a thousand liters of gasoline, a drone with a thermal camera and more than 18,000 euros in cash.
