Spanish Police Bust Sex Trafficking Ring Exploiting Moroccan Women

The national police arrested, on February 13 in Zafra, four alleged perpetrators of a crime related to prostitution, human trafficking and the promotion of illegal immigration. The accused attracted vulnerable Moroccan women who were in an irregular situation in Spain.
The dismantled group recruited vulnerable unemployed Moroccan women who were in an irregular situation in Spain. In order to meet their heavy family burdens, these Moroccan women were forced to accept the job of waitress in a club or in a restaurant cleaning service that was offered to them, reports La Vanguardia.
These women were convinced to work alternately with the club’s clients and, ultimately, they were forced to prostitute themselves, with the promise of regularizing their situation in Spain in exchange for 6,000 euros.
To achieve their ends, the accused did not hesitate to resort to violence, and sometimes even to witchcraft. Four of them, two men and two women, aged 19 to 62, were arrested with various effects and documents, as well as a sum of 1,525 euros in cash, according to the same source.
The investigation into this network began when the Provincial Brigade of Foreigners and Borders of the Badajoz Provincial Police Station learned of the possible existence of an organized group specializing in sexual exploitation in Zafra.
In addition, another club in which three women were forced to prostitute themselves was also identified. The police also heard about the existence of an organized criminal group.
