Spanish Police Bust Major Cocaine Ring: 500 Kilos Seized in Morocco-Linked Operation

The Spanish National Police has dismantled a cocaine trafficking network transiting through Morocco. In total, ten people were arrested and half a ton of cocaine as well as 800 kilos of tobacco were seized between Seville and Cadiz.
The operation was ordered by the Seville court after the police were informed of the introduction of a large quantity of cocaine in containers in the city from South America. In Algeciras, two containers were detected in March at the port coming from Asunción (Paraguay), passing through Argentina and Morocco.
The search of these two containers revealed 500 bales of cocaine of about one kilo each, hidden under wooden pallets. A few days later, the container containing the drugs was transported on a ship in the town of Santiponce (Seville) before being seized by the police, who arrested four people on the occasion.
A dozen searches of ships and residences were carried out in ten municipalities in these two provinces and led to the involvement of two companies specializing in tobacco smuggling. The operation continued in April in certain cities of Seville and Algeciras (Cadiz), and led to the arrest of six other people as well as the seizure of electronic devices, three vehicles, a motorcycle and 29,000 euros in cash.
