Spanish Police Bust International Wildlife Trafficking Ring, Seize 200 Animals

Ten alleged members of an international animal trafficking network have been arrested. This major seizure resulted in the recovery of nearly 200 animals.
The operation called "Fennec" and coordinated by Europol with the cooperation of Portugal, Slovakia and Morocco, made it possible to seize the hunting spoils. This consists of nearly 200 animals including birds, mammals and reptiles, which were destined for Morocco.
The same source notes that this investigation had been opened in the wake of a citizen’s complaint through the NGO SEO/BirdLife.
This made it possible to closely monitor these ten individuals currently under arrest. The investigation has established that these defendants had acquired the animals from various suppliers based in Spain and other European Union countries.
As for the animals, they were gathered in stores in Fuengirola and Ronda, from where they were transferred to Morocco.
