Spanish Police Arrest 4 Suspected Jihadists in Joint Operation with Morocco

The Spanish police arrested, on Wednesday, May 20, four suspected terrorists, during an operation jointly carried out with the Moroccan intelligence services. The alleged "mastermind" of the network is a Moroccan who has fled the kingdom for a few years.
The four individuals arrested are suspected of belonging to a jihadist cell, reports the Spanish newspaper ABC on its online site. The alleged leader of this cell is a Moroccan who is said to have settled in Spain a few years ago, where he had recruited the other members of this terrorist group.
The man was based in Barcelona, but the covid-19 health crisis forced him to go to another city to find a job as a seasonal worker in the agricultural sector. And if the investigators have resolutely set out on his trail, it is because he has sent strong enough signals about "his determination to carry out terrorist acts". The Spanish police report that the defendant "would have had contacts with Daesh fighters via a sophisticated communications system". By searching the homes of the four defendants, "the Spanish police seized documents as well as a bladed weapon". Two other individuals, suspected of being part of the network, are currently actively being sought.
