Spanish Police Arrest Suspected Islamist in Majorca Anti-Terror Raid

A Spanish man of Moroccan origin was arrested this Thursday during an anti-terrorist operation carried out in Campos, a town located on the island of Majorca. National police officers and Palma police experts conducted a raid in connection with alleged Islamists.
During this operation, the investigators seized a large quantity of documents and searched for electronic devices that could have been used by the suspect. The Audiencia Nacional is in charge of the investigation and has authorized the entry and search of the address in question in Campos, reports the site Ultima Hora.
The presence of national police officers wearing bulletproof vests and carrying weapons in the town raised questions and concerns among the residents. However, no information was provided by the Palma police, as the operation is under the secrecy of the investigation, details the same source.
Spain has faced several terrorist attacks in recent years, particularly in Barcelona in 2017 where 16 people were killed and more than 100 injured. Since then, the Spanish authorities have strengthened their security system and continue to closely monitor people suspected of terrorist activities.
