Spanish Police Arrest Moroccan Man Suspected of Financing ISIS Operations

A man of Moroccan origin was arrested on Tuesday by the Spanish police. He is accused of his "alleged participation in the financing of terrorist activities".
In a statement, the Spanish police said the defendant was an experienced agent specialized in fundraising for Daesh sympathizers. He then sent them to Syria.
The investigation launched last May following the arrest of two alleged Daesh financiers has shown that the financial structure operated by the defendant arrested last Tuesday was part of a transnational network with ramifications in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.
Moreover, the various payments were made through different monetary transaction channels, including the traditional system commonly called "hawala" (mandate).
Thanks to this investigation, the structure established mainly in Syria has been exposed. It would be composed of leaders and fighters, working closely together to financially support various foreign terrorists and operational members of Daesh ready to return to Europe, notes the same source.
