Spanish Police Arrest ’Emperor of Second-Hand Clothing’ in Melilla Trafficking Bust

Hunted for a long time, a Moroccan national who has made the large-scale trade in used clothing his own, has been arrested by the Spanish authorities in Melilla. The accused is close to extremist circles.
It took a general mobilization of human and material resources to pursue and arrest this Moroccan national in Melilla. He was tracked throughout his many travels, and the most advanced technologies were used, reveals Assabah, adding that the latter was trading in used clothing. He was even nicknamed the "emperor of the second-hand clothing trade".
The suspect was the subject of attention from the Spanish law enforcement authorities, particularly with regard to the companies of which he was the owner or associate in Melilla and the city of Alicante and his proximity to Islamist circles, listed as potentially dangerous, in Spain, but also in the Middle East.
He laundered the fortune amassed from the second-hand clothing trade through real estate projects. He would also be linked to other smuggling networks, drug and arms trafficking.
Many people active in the same circuit are also the subject of in-depth investigations at the moment.
