Spanish Party Podemos Condemns Morocco’s Maritime Expansion Plans

The delimitation of Morocco’s territorial waters with Spain and Mauritania continues to provoke reactions. The Spanish party, Podemos, rejects "Morocco’s expansionist policy".
"We will not allow our marine waters to be touched by Morocco, and we demand that the median established until today be respected," Podemos thunders in a statement signed by Francisco Lopez, its regional secretary.
"From Podemos Canarias, we reject Morocco’s expansionist policy, not only with our waters, but with the waters of Western Sahara, a non-self-governing territory awaiting decolonization, a conflict that has lasted for 43 years," affirms this Spanish political formation. It also recalls "the various rulings of the Court of Justice of the European Union prohibiting the marketing of Sahrawi resources".
Last Wednesday, the deputies voted on draft law no. 37.17 amending and supplementing the Dahir having the force of law no. 1.73.211 of 26 Moharrem 1393 (March 2, 1973) fixing the limit of territorial waters, and that no. 38.17 amending and supplementing law no. 1.81 establishing an exclusive economic zone of 200 nautical miles off the Moroccan coasts. Through this vote, Morocco has integrated the waters of the Sahara into its maritime space.
