Spanish Opposition Urges Government to Expedite Moroccan Navy Patrol Boat Construction

The members of the Popular Party (PP) sitting on the Cádiz city council will present a proposal on Friday during a plenary session to call on the government to accelerate the start of construction of the patrol boat ordered by Morocco at Navantia in 2021.
The president of the PP municipal group, Juancho Ortiz, explained that once the fifth corvette ordered by Saudi Arabia is delivered, the Navantia shipyards in San Fernando and Puerto Real will have to start construction of the patrol boat ordered by the Moroccan navy in January 2021.
"The contract for the Moroccan patrol boat will create one million man-hours of work and 250 jobs for more than three years, and even beyond if Saudi Arabia were to increase its order of corvettes," said Juancho Ortiz, noting that this country has also expressed its intention to order a sixth corvette next year.
