Spanish Opposition Demands Removal of Unauthorized Moroccan Fish Farm in Disputed Waters

The Popular Party (PP) has announced that it is ready to take legal action to demand the withdrawal of the fish farm installed by a Moroccan company off the Chafarinas Islands if the government does not do anything to change the situation.
The PP deputy from Melilla, Fernando Gutiérrez Díaz de Otazu, stated that this infrastructure cannot continue to exist in Spanish territorial waters since it was installed without authorization.

The Spanish government, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced in November this violation by Morocco of its territorial waters. The PP invites the Executive to study the possibility of initiating a demolition file for the fish farm, either on its own initiative or through the judicial authorities.
"If nothing is done, we will file a lawsuit to demand the withdrawal of this fish farm from Spanish territorial waters," warned the deputy.
