Spanish Opposition Demands Answers on Melilla Migrant Surge

The Popular Party (PP) and Vox are asking the Spanish government for explanations about the massive assaults by sub-Saharan migrants in Melilla last Wednesday and Thursday.
The massive migrant assaults recorded at the Melilla fence will be the subject of a debate at the next session of Congress scheduled for Wednesday. PP and Vox lawmakers have sent a written question to the Interior Minister on this matter, Heraldo reports.

PP deputy Ana Belén Vázquez has asked Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska to explain to the lower house the measures the government intends to take after the assault of more than 2,000 sub-Saharan migrants from Morocco on the Melilla fence. For its part, Vox, through the voice of deputy Ignacio Gil Lázaro, wants to know "what measures the government wants to take to protect the Spanish borders in Ceuta and Melilla".

After the minister’s response, the two parties will likely propose a censure motion against Marlaska in Congress, the same source estimates, noting that the Interior Minister is the most censured in this legislature, both by the PP, Vox and Ciudadanos.
Marlaska, accompanied by the government delegate, Sabrina Moh, visited the Civil Guard units deployed on the borders this Sunday. On this occasion, he was able to see the device set up by the armed institute, which has made it possible to deter a small group of migrants who tried to approach the fence.
