Spanish Officials Refute Claims of Moroccan Patrol Boat Near Melilla

The government delegation in Melilla assured on Tuesday that the Civil Guard has not detected the presence of any Moroccan patrol boat in the waters near the autonomous city.
The government delegation provided this clarification in response to posts on social media reporting the alleged presence of a Moroccan gendarmerie patrol in the waters near Melilla, according to COPE.
For the moment, the Civil Guard has not seen any Moroccan vessel in the waters near Melilla and has not received any complaints in this regard, the delegation said in a statement.
The Popular Party (PP) recalled that Moroccan patrol boats have recently intercepted Spanish boats in the Spanish coastal waters near Melilla. The party’s deputy in Congress, Fernando Gutiérrez Díaz de Otazu, has already sent two written questions to the government to find out if it is aware of these actions by the Moroccan armed forces.
