The president of Nueva Canarias (NC), Román Rodríguez, drew the attention of the Spanish government on Saturday to the persistence of Morocco’s annexationist desires on Ceuta, Melilla and certain Spanish islands, including the Canaries.
"The Moroccan regime, which must be differentiated from the Moroccan people, is an expansionist regime, in addition to being corrupt," Rodriguez said during the closing ceremony of the party’s fifth congress, which confirmed his re-election.

"We cannot allow Morocco to delimit its continental shelf on the basis of the annexation of the Western Sahara," he argued.
