Canary Islands Party Demands Answers on Moroccan Territorial Claims

The Canarian Coalition-Canarian Nationalist Party (CC-PNC) asks the Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, to confirm whether Morocco could have claimed a territory of the Canary Islands if Spain had not supported the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara.
This information, which was announced by Minister Albares and has not been denied, is of "extreme gravity," the Canarian coalition said in a statement, accusing the Spanish government of having "yielded to Morocco’s blackmail."

The CC-PNC also called on the Canarian government to officially state its position on the Sahara conflict and to demand that President Pedro Sánchez reverse his decision to support the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara.
The coalition also invited the United Nations to find a just and definitive solution to the Sahara conflict as soon as possible, by organizing a self-determination referendum for the Sahrawi people.
