Spanish Muslims to Celebrate Eid Al-Fitr on May 2, Marking End of Ramadan

Ramadan will end in a few days. The Islamic Commission of Spain has already announced the day of the celebration of Eid Al-Fitr in the Iberian Peninsula.
"On May 2, more than two million Muslims in Spain will celebrate the end of Ramadan (Eid Al-Fitr)," announced the Islamic Commission of Spain in a post on its Instagram account. On April 18, the commission set the minimum amount of Zakat al-Fitr at 5 € per person for Muslims living in the Iberian Peninsula. Mosques are responsible for collecting this amount until the Eid al-Fitr prayer to distribute it to the needy. Zakat is synonymous with "means of social solidarity", stressed the official representative body of Islam and Muslims.
In accordance with the cooperation agreement signed between the Spanish State and the Islamic Commission of Spain in 1992, the latter also called on Spanish institutions and companies to grant a day off to their Muslim employees. This agreement provides legal support for the requests of Muslim workers for a day off during a religious holiday, "provided there is an agreement between the parties". The religious holidays concerned are the Islamic New Year, Ashura (tenth day of Muharram), Aid al-mawlid (anniversary of the birth of the Prophet), Laylat al-qadr, al-isra wa al-miraj (27 Rajab) and Aid al—Adha.
