Spanish-Moroccan Rapper Faces Death Threats Over LGBTQ+ Support Video

The Spanish rapper of Moroccan origin, Miss Raisa (Imane Raissali in civil status), received threats and sexist insults on social networks, after posting a video on Tik Tok to support the LGBTIQ+ collective.
The young Catalan and Muslim rapper living in Barcelona, became known on the TV show Got Talent España and received the Tik Tok Diversity and Inclusion award. Last weekend, she posted on this social network where she has more than half a million subscribers, a video in which she explains, as a Muslim, her vision of homosexuality and the LGBTIQ+ collective.
Two days after this post, Imane Raissali claims to have received death threats from radical Islamists. "The only thing I have gained is massive and destructive persecution," lamented the Muslim rapper who says she does not regret "being faithful to her principles." "You who use religion to express your hatred of others, is this the Islam you defend and want people to respect you for? If for you, this is what it means to be a Muslim, then we do not profess the same faith," she said.
For Miss Raissa, LGBTIQ+ people must be respected: "For me, it is very important to have my own criteria and to analyze in depth whether what religion asks of us contributes to our humanity and our coexistence, or distances us from others... There are people who blindly defend certain ideas that often go against human rights," explained the artist.
In the video, Raissali was outraged that people "interfere in the private and intimate life" of others. "This debate on homosexuality should not exist," believes the Muslim, specifying that "there is a big difference between respect, tolerance and support." And to add: "We should all re-educate ourselves on values, because many of us, even if we think we are adults and understand the world, we still lack a lot of empathy."
