Spanish MEP Urges Defense of EU-Morocco Fishing Agreements Amid Court Ruling

Spanish MEP Juan Ignacio Zoido believes that "Spain is jeopardizing the future of hundreds of families" by defending the suppression of the agricultural and fisheries agreements between Morocco and the EU.
This cancellation, which occurred at the end of September by the European Court, is not in Spain’s interest, the parliamentarian said in a statement, calling on the Spanish government to defend the continuity of the agricultural and fisheries agreements.
Referring to the strategic position occupied by Morocco in Spanish fishing, the former mayor of Seville declared that "Spain simply cannot afford to jeopardize the future of hundreds of families."
To justify his position, the former mayor recalled that "out of the 132 European vessels fishing in the Moroccan fishing zone, 93 are Spanish."
"So it is up to us now to preserve this cooperation" on the commercial aspects with a "priority partner" like Morocco, he hammered, insisting that the Spanish government must collaborate with the European institutions to mitigate the negative effects of the decision taken by the EU justice on the agreements with Morocco.
