Spanish PM Meets Moroccan Foreign Minister, Signaling Thaw in Diplomatic Crisis

The President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sanchez, met on Thursday with the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nasser Bourita, during the EU-Africa Summit in Brussels. A first since the start of the crisis.
Since the outbreak of the diplomatic crisis between Morocco and Spain last April, this is the first time that President Pedro Sánchez has held a physical meeting with a member of the Moroccan Executive.
On Friday, Sanchez said he had a "conversation" with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the EU-Africa Summit in Brussels, reports Publimetro.
"We both recognized the need to move forward in this strategic relationship between Spain and Morocco," he said, recalling the clearly expressed desire of King Mohammed VI in August last year to open an "unprecedented stage" in relations between the two countries.
