Spanish Ex-King Juan Carlos’ Moroccan Property Scandal Resurfaces

We remember this case that dates back to 2015 and was only revealed last summer, following the publication of the denunciations of the former mistress of the former King, Juan Carlos of Spain, plunging him into a major scandal. In order not to further drag the royal family through the mud, the Spanish justice system had to decide to dismiss this case.
The daily Akhbar Al Yaoum returns to this case that has caused a lot of ink and saliva to flow. The name of King Juan Carlos of Spain, who left the throne in 2014, had been involved in several compromising files. However, it was mainly on the Marrakech villa of Juan Carlos I, but also on lands that had been offered to him by King Mohammed VI, that the eyes had turned.
Several newspapers in the Iberian peninsula had chosen to broadcast the recordings in which Corinna zu Sayn-Wittgenstein, the German mistress of the King of Spain, accused him of having placed, in his name and without her knowledge, part of his patrimony, in particular lands in Morocco, which had been offered to him by Mohammed VI, according to the Iberian press.
Juan Carlos, whose status as a former King shields him from any legal proceedings, had therefore not been bothered. Despite the damning recordings against the Spanish monarchy, the judge of the Audiencia Nacional, the highest Spanish court, had, for his part, considered that the evidence was "insufficient to open a judicial investigation".
With the case thus closed, the former "girlfriend" of Juan Carlos I has simply been dismissed. And beyond all this, it is the honor of the entire royal family that is protected.
