Spanish Government Fires Ceuta Official Over Illegal Deportation of Moroccan Minors

The Spanish government has relieved Ceuta delegate Salvadora Mateos of her duties, who is under investigation for the "illegal" return of 55 Moroccan minors in August 2021.
The decision was made on Monday at the Council of Ministers. Rafael García Rodríguez is expected to replace Salvadora Mateos, who is the subject of a judicial investigation into the case of the return of the 55 Moroccan minors, in violation of immigration regulations, reports The Objective.
The now former Ceuta delegate was also the source of controversy in April 2021 when she deplored the continued closure of the border, which prevented domestic workers from entering the autonomous city.
The one who succeeds Salvadora Mateos, Rafael García, is the legal advisor to the spokesperson of the PSOE parliamentary group in Ceuta. He has also been the general secretary in charge of institutional relations and the civil service since 2021.
