Spanish Government Faces Allegations of Misleading Public on Moroccan Coma Patient’s Residency Status

The Spanish government is accused of lying about the situation of Samir, a Moroccan currently in a coma since he was the victim of a traffic accident in Ceuta.
"Samir has a residence permit on exceptional humanitarian grounds as a foreigner who has suffered from an illness," the government said, whose words were then relayed by the Podemos party on social media. This permit, it adds, "was notified to him on July 21, 2020 and is valid for one year."
It turns out that Samir does not have any residence permit. Saadía, his mother, in a video recorded at the hospital with the latter, indicated that neither she nor her son have a residence permit. She does not know where the government got this information published on February 12 and disseminated in all the media.
The irony is that the government added that a renewal of Samir’s permit is underway. It is therefore difficult to understand how the government gave this official version when the Government Delegation in Ceuta is aware of Samir’s situation.
