Spanish Far-Right Party Vox’s Twitter Account Suspended Over Anti-Muslim Campaign

As last year, Twitter suspended on Thursday the official account of the far-right party "Vox" in Spain. The party has made hate-inciting speeches during a campaign it launched with the hashtag "No to Islamization".
As part of its election campaign for the local legislative elections in Catalonia, scheduled for February 14, the party had posted on its Twitter account accusations against immigrants and Muslims for their involvement in crimes committed in Catalonia and the Canary Islands. These posts led to the suspension of the Twitter account for six days.
In a tweet posted on his personal account, the leader of Spain’s third largest party denounced this decision by Twitter while announcing his intention to file a complaint against the social network. "Twitter is attacking freedom by censoring democracy. Some stone us, others demonize us and still others manipulate us. They want to silence us because we defend ourselves," he said.
Founded in 2013 in Spain, the far-right party Vox adopts an anti-immigration and anti-Islam policy. It entered parliament for the first time after the 2019 general elections.
