Spanish Customs Tighten Rules for Moroccan Bus Travelers, Complicating Cross-Border Trips

If you plan to take the bus for your trip from Morocco to abroad, be aware that the Spanish customs have tightened the procedure, especially for those who are used to taking products or other Moroccan delicacies.
For a few weeks now, the Spanish customs have been forcing all travelers to unload their luggage on arrival and keep it with them throughout their boat journey, recalls the newspaper l’Economiste, which makes the trip very difficult, especially for the elderly.
Witnesses cited by the newspaper say they suffered during their trip, especially since the port of Algeciras is not well equipped with trolleys. Moreover, it is strictly forbidden to take them on the boat. So take your precautions before planning your trip.
Furthermore, there has been a substantial increase in the price of the bus ticket. The reason? It stems from the first one. Being prohibited from transporting luggage, bus companies are seeing their turnover decrease and are passing this decrease on to passengers.
And beware those who do not comply with this new instruction or they will have to dig into their pockets, warns the same source. Customs officers are indeed issuing fines ranging from 1000 to 3000 euros to drivers who do not empty their bus before boarding.
