Spanish Court Dismisses Case Against Ex-Foreign Minister in Polisario Leader Entry Probe

The president of the investigating court in Zaragoza, in charge of the investigation into the Bhaim Ghali case, declared a dismissal concerning the involvement of the former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, Arancha González Laya, in the entry into Spain of the Polisario Front leader.
In an order dated October 7, the judge rejected the prosecutor’s request to prosecute González Laya and declared a dismissal, according to judicial sources cited by La Vanguardia.
González Laya appeared on Monday, October 4, before Judge Rafael Lasala, who is investigating the "illegal" entry into Spain of the Polisario Front leader, Brahim Ghali, and is looking for the person responsible who gave the instructions in this regard.
During her appearance, the former minister stated that Ghali’s entry into Spain is a "political decision", and that for reasons of state secrecy, she could not reveal the identity of the person responsible who gave the instructions.
Ghali’s arrival in Spain provoked a serious diplomatic crisis with Morocco, which led to González Laya’s departure from Pedro Sánchez’s government in the reshuffle that took place in mid-July.
