Spanish Business Group Removes Disputed Morocco Map Amid Controversy

Granada International, a professional association grouping Spanish companies that export to Morocco, had to remove from its website a map of Morocco including the Sahara after a heated controversy.
The association, which has some 600 members, was using on its website and during various events a map of Morocco including the Sahara. The discovery of this map sparked an outcry in Granada in recent weeks, forcing the organization to remove this complete map of Morocco from its site and replace it with a map of Morocco without the Sahara.
"I am surprised by the map and by the fact that what was not incorporated has been," said José Luis Alarcón, the president of Granada International, in an interview with El Independiente. And he added: "As this is not something conclusive and totally accepted, we will correct it if the general assembly is of this opinion". Thus, the association has removed the map of Morocco and replaced it with another one amputated of the Sahara.
