Spanish Authorities Block Unaccompanied Moroccan Minors from Illegal Border Crossing

The Civil Guard prevented on Monday a group of Moroccan minors from returning to Morocco. Two of them were arrested on the beach of Tarajal, next to the border, and four others, a little further away.
The events took place shortly after the incident that occurred in the area called Piniers 3, where another group of unaccompanied foreign minors (MENA) tried en masse to cross the border, confronting the agents. The National Police, called in as reinforcements, had to intervene to prevent them, reports Ceuta Ahora.
These minors wanted to return to Morocco by avoiding border controls. However, the return of minors must be done through the authorities, in compliance with the regulations in force, in order to protect the rights of children. For the moment, the Spanish authorities have not yet found the right formula to repatriate these minors. Child rights NGOs are keeping a close eye on the situation.
