Spain Unveils Plan to Boost Investment in Moroccan Industry and Infrastructure

Spain is about to finance Spanish industrial and infrastructure projects established in Morocco. These are financing for public and private companies offered by partners of the Iberian administration’s administration.
The Spanish sectoral association Sercobe, and its local partner NGI (New Global Intelligent) guarantee these credits at preferential rates to companies operating in Morocco, reports l’Economiste. The amounts range from 20 million and more and must be used for goods and services of Spanish origin. The objective is to strengthen Spanish FDI and support the creation of new companies south of the Mediterranean.
In Morocco, Spanish FDI is strongly represented in the automotive industry, bus assembly, bus management and operation (Alsa). Spaniards also invest in hotels, tourism, renewable energies, infrastructure, waste management, etc. After France, the United Arab Emirates, Spain is the 3rd foreign investor in Morocco and its companies employ more than 20,000 employees.
To promote cross-border cooperation for the period 2021-2027 and especially to develop urban and integrated projects in municipalities between the two shores of the Mediterranean, about thirty mayors and their representatives have signed the Malaga Charter. The signing of this charter brought together a year ago in Malaga the mayor of the city and the Moroccan ambassador to Spain.
