Spain Seeks to Defuse Tensions Between Morocco and Algeria Over Sahara Incident

After the statements of President Tebboune, accusing Morocco of being the source of the attack that occurred in the Sahara, Spain has stated that it is closely following the file and working to de-escalate between "its two strategic partners".
Before the members of Congress, José Manuel Albares declared that the government "is gathering information related to the statement of the Algerian government on an incident in the Sahara".
"We will work so that there is no escalation," he said, adding that Madrid "is following with concern anything that can affect two equally essential strategic partners for stability and prosperity in the Mediterranean." In this sense, he specified that the government is closely monitoring the situation, will be "on the side of de-escalation" at all times and will therefore "work on everything that is possible so that an escalation does not occur."
