Spain’s Sanchez Seeks to Rebuild Ties with Morocco Amid UN Assembly

The head of the Spanish government, Pedro Sanchez, declared, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly in New York, that Spain has "a great opportunity to restore good relations with Morocco."
"You know that Morocco is in the process of forming a new government, we will wait for it to be constituted, but I believe that what happened in the previous months, in August in particular, shows that we are facing a great opportunity to restore good relations with Morocco, but also on a more solid basis...," said Pedro Sanchez, during a press conference held in New York, on the sidelines of the 76th session of the UN General Assembly. The head of the Spanish government added that the high-level meeting with Morocco will be held in the coming days.
Relations between Morocco and Spain were shaken by a serious diplomatic crisis provoked by the reception in April of the Polisario leader in a hospital in Logroño under a false identity.
